Book about Australia: To Read Before the Trip

(Post by Tina)
Read this book if you are going on the trip to OZ. It's about the history of Australia. I found a copy (used and cheap) on Amazon.com. The story so far:
The Intro is about the OZ national state of "amnesia" concerning Australia's first wave of English settlers (who were, of course, convicts). The first chapter is about the Aborigines, mostly the iora tribe, who lived in caves when the English Whites came to OZ around the 1770's or... whenever. Chapter 2 is about the horrid, overcrowded prison system of Georgian London. The prisons in London had been transporting convicts to the North American colonies (Virginia and Massachusetts?) as slave labor. When the US won the war we stopped accepting convicts; the Brits had to ship the "Swinish Multitudes" elswhere...to the Antipodes (OZ).
PS No matter how many times you click to "look inside" the cover of this book, you may not see inside. This is a mensa test for people with Alzheimers.
